Veterans at Standing Rock shock tribe members, beg forgiveness for war crimes against tribal nations
“We fought you. We took your land. We signed treaties that we broke. We stole minerals from your sacred hills. We blasted the faces of our presidents onto your sacred mountain… We didn’t respect you, we polluted your Earth, we’ve hurt you in so many ways but we’ve come to say that we are sorry. We are at your service and we beg for your forgiveness,” were the words of Wes Clark, Jr. which made everybody burst into tears yesterday at Standing Rock camps.
Not every day we are able to witness something so powerful and profound, but the forgiveness ceremony where Wes Clark Jr. assembled all US veterans, who deployed at Standing Rock camps earlier on December 4, is something that will not leave you indifferent.
In the name of the assembled veterans, Wes Clark Jr emotionally addressed the native elders and begged for forgiveness for the genocide and war crimes committed by the US military against first nations in the country. At the end of his addressing, he takes a knee and Leksi Leonard Crow Dog, on behalf of the tribes who attended the ceremony, accepted and also asked for forgiveness for any harm that might have been done from the side of the native tribes.
This was a moment of collective healing, a good thing, something that we should all share and spread as message and apply it elsewhere in the world in the name of world peace. As we are certain that there were many warriors with tears in their eyes, we are also sure that many who have already seen the video below, had also burst into tears after watching it:
